Each year, we leave the chilly landscape of North Dakota behind and head south for a much-needed thawing in the US Virgin Islands. Not only are the islands the place where we first met, but the Island of St. Croix is home to our daughter, her family and so many cherished friends. The lush hills, the scenic vistas, the sun on our faces and sips of Cruzan rum on the veranda -- these are the things that make this island, in particular, the place that refuels our creativity for the new year ahead. Every time we return to the Studio in Edgeley from St. Croix, we bring with us new design ideas and new ways of thinking, helping us hunker down for the remainder of winter -- and create.

Hi you two! What a beautiful view. Thank you for including me, I love hearing from you. I'm enjoying a book and a fire in the wood stove. Our weather is mild, 28º today, tho icy. Some rum sounds good to me too. Life has slowed down for a bit, Janet and I are thinking no more summer shows. Maybe the 8th Street show. It's inside, and the new organizers are really working hard to get the word out, and they are very accommodating to the artists. So my garden may actually look good this year. Even so, time seems to pass so quickly, fall creeps closer without pause.

Great to hear from you two! You are right, the weather and views remain wonderful and it always feels so much like "coming home" when we are here. It would also be great to see you in FL one of these days.

Hi you two! How great that you have such a great get-away place every winter. January has been warmer than average in Bismarck (we broke a record of all-time high yesterday at 53-whoop whoop!) and we are truly loving it, but all things must come to an end as this weekend it sounds like true winter will return.

Hello, Don, Glad to see you are enjoying the tropics. We have a fair idea of what you are grooving on, because we have been going to nearby St. John, and it is a paradise. Never saw so many tarpon before, and they are dumb as hell, not like the ones in Florida. You should try for tarpon off the docks in St. Croix. Best, Greg Roberts, Equator Coffee,

Hey, thanks Greg! We just saw the tarpon that hang out in the water along the boardwalk in Christiansted last night!
